Yet again the current Australian Constitution, which is enforceable at law, failed to be at all relevant to the actual running of the country. The Constitution should set down the rules on how the Australian government actually operates and it should ensure that all the basic rights and responsibilities are locked down, unable to be changed without the approval of the Australian citizens. The proposed draft New Aussie Constitution does not rely on whether or not politicians follow historical conventions and aims to see that the governance structures are properly defined, capable of enforcement by the courts and only subject to change with the approval of the Australian people.
