This video [CLICK HERE] discusses the appointment of a Minister for the Republic under the new Australian Government and what that might mean for the future amendment or replacement of the current Australian Constitution. The Government has the stated two objectives for this new Minister to achieve over the next six years (subject to the Government’s re-election) and they are an indigenous voice to parliament in the first term and the transition of Australia to a republic in the second. The New Aussie Constitution Trust cautiously supports these initiatives, both of which are already written into the independently developed, proposed draft New Aussie Constitution released by the trust back in September 2021.
